Book List

Organizing From the Inside Out
by Julie Morgenstern

Parts One and Two of this book are gold for those who care more about the “why” behind the clutter and chaos in their homes and offices. They alone are worth the whole book.

Outer Order, Inner Calm
by Gretchen Rubin

A direct and to the point little book on ways bringing order to your surroundings can help bring calmness to your mind.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
by Marie Kondo

This little book started a movement. Have you ever been asked if something “sparks joy”? That comes from this book. Marie brings up some counter-intuitive ideas in her method, KonMari, that might just be the encouragement you need. My favorite is to think about your belongings in terms of what you want to keep instead of what you want to get rid of.

Simplifying
by Joshua Becker

Joshua Becker is a wealth of knowledge and has a stack of books (several of them free online) to show for it. His own personal journey of Becoming Minimalist (also the name of his brand) gives his writing a comforting and gracious feel.

Essentialism
by Greg McKeown

There are so many good nuggets in this book but my favorite quote from this book is, “Remember that if you don’t prioritize your life someone else will.”

A Simplified Life
by Emily Ley

This is a good comprehensive and beautiful book if you are hard-wired to do this work already and just need a tiny bit of help. Emily touches on not just physical things in your home but also meal planning, finances, technology, and motherhood to name a few.

Delivered from Distraction
by Edward M. Hallowell, M.D., and John J. Ratey, M.D.

With everything from stories of those living with ADHD, to diagnosis, to treatment (medicine is only one of many, many parts), Dr. Hallowell sings the praises of ADHD while addressing some challenges that living with ADHD present. If you are looking for a book that encourages and helps in the world of ADHD, this is your book. The preface and introduction are almost must reads, they are that helpful. You can also pick and choose your chapters and still glean incredible insight.
